As the one and only zip line in Austin, Texas, we provide a top notch experience to those who are willing to take the leap. Our three hour tour will take you through the winding hill country, providing breathtaking views of glistening Lake Travis. We take pride in keeping our guests comfortable, safe, and enjoyable throughout their stay with us. We are a cohesive unit where every employee is treated like family. Our guests will tell you that our love for adventure and the outdoors is apparent in each guide!

Intern Responsibilities
Daily Basis / 2019
I have recently been a jack of all trades for the zipline. I would say that my position lies between a manager, boat driver, and tour guide. I step in to complete daily duties that are sometimes overlooked in a bustling company. I go where I am needed at the moment and do what I can to fix the problem. There are many moving parts to allow the business to maintain itself as a smooth running operation and I have been tasked with making sure maintenance is up to date on all of these moving parts, such as: boats, gear, grounds, etc. (And always filling in when a tour guide is needed!)

Qualifications / 2019
Tour Guides: This position requires guides to be comfortable working in the outdoors and at heights. You'll want to have strong presentation/communication skills and be knowledgeable about the local natural history, environment and ecology of the lake area. You must also must be prepared to accept responsibility in real risk scenarios while calmly managing guests at heights.
Boat Drivers: Responsible for transporting participants and staff safely across Lake Travis to and from the Zip Line course and beach area. Drivers must be personable and have good communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively on two way radios. Additional duties include some maintenance and cleaning of vehicles. You do have to take a boat driving course to be cleared for this position.

What I've Learned
I have gained more and more respect for anyone who has a behind-the-scenes position in any company. I have started to understand how doing the hardest job can make your work ethic shine. And how efficient decision-making can provide opportunities to move up in the business hierarchy. I was eventually minimally supervised because of the trust I have gained from my superiors, leaving me feeling useful and responsible. I am proud of the work I have accomplished and have made lifelong friends and connections at LTZA. I will continue to work for the zip line whenever I need some
adventure!
